This is the third book in the Vinlanders series and deals with the healer Annike and her foster daughter. I enjoyed the story very much and the surprise cameos by some of the characters from the first two books which help the continuity of the series. While the first two books are closely tied together and involve mostly the same people, this story ranges further afield and brings in fresh faces and talents. The writing is well done and the editing is professional with very few typos and none that distract from the story. The plot is interesting and fast moving with plenty of villains and some surprising heros, with a nice twist near the end.There are no sexual scenes, but there are (for those with triggers) several scenes where sexual violence is attempted or suggested. There are other scenes of violence (all those villains) but no profanity. This has been an interesting series and I will continue with it.

I love this author's writings. Well written, great characters and unique imagination. I enjoyed this book so much I plan on rereading it until the next one is released.
A good addition to the Vinlander's Saga. It was not my favorite of the series, but I still enjoyed it. The author creates great characters who I care about, and the story moves along at a good pace. I love the elves! I hope she writes more books with them.
I thoroughly enjoyed this series. The character and scene descriptions are well done. I said in previous reviews that I would love to see this done as a movie! Thanks for the reading enjoyment -)
Pleasant mix of characters and plot. Interesting picture of the Light Elves' typical interactions with people. A look at the lives of commoners from both the women's and men's perspectives. Subdued romance with satisfying ending.
Fewer characters and lacks the complexity of plot and character-development in the first two novels in the series, but true to the world created in them.
I enjoyed "Debts"very much! The characters were interesting, and I enjoyed the fae characters. I liked the entire Vinlanders' Saga, and I loved that even though it was a series, each book could be read on it's own with out any confusion. You rarely find an e-book these days that really is a stand alone, and doesn't end in a cliff hanger.
I really loved all 3 books, the first and second being my favorite because of the developed characters you get when you stay with the same people. In the third book we meet new people, which at first I was kind of disappointed because I thought we would see the younger brother finally develop his own relationship with his two women a bit more, like we were able to with the elder brother. Maybe a fourth book will come out and we can see that then.

'Once upon a time . . . ' opens the best stories. The actual words aren't used, but the classic fairy-tale feeling permeates this engaging story set in the Vinlander universe. This is the third in the series, and it just gets better and better with each new book. I particularly enjoyed the concept of juggling conflicting loyalties and repaying debts. Once your word is given, how do you deal with fulfilling your obligations, when you are bound in different direction? Family or honor? Survival or oath keeping? Very adult themes, handled with delicacy and insight. The dilemmas are real, the world-building first class, and the characters engaging. If you are a fan of Marian Zimmer Bradley, Mercedes Lackey, or Anne MacCaffrey, you will feel right at home here.
